Immunizations

The Texas Department of Health has ruled that students must be current with immunizations in order to attend school unless an exemption has been filed with the school in accordance with Texas Education Code, Health and Safety, Chapter 38.0001.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is required prior to entering, attending, enrolling in, and/or transferring to child-care facilities or to any public school.

A student transferring from another public school district within Texas may be enrolled provisionally for 30 days while awaiting transfer of records, if immunization records indicate that the student is on schedule with at least one dose of each specified age appropriate vaccine. TEC§38.001(e) and TEC§25.002.

A student entering Bay City ISD from out of state is required to provide proof of required immunizations prior to entering, attending, or enrolling in school (no provisional period is allowed).

A student who is homeless as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act shall be admitted into BCISD temporarily for 30 days if acceptable evidence of vaccination is not available. 42 USCA §11432(g)(3)(C)(i) An effort should be made to obtain immunizations electronically by accessing the state registry (IMMTRAC) at

http://dshs.texas.gov/immunize/ImmTrac/default.shtm

To remain enrolled, the student must complete the required subsequent doses in each vaccine series on schedule and as rapidly as is medically feasible and provide acceptable evidence of vaccination to school. The school shall promptly refer the student to appropriate sources to obtain the required vaccinations. TEC §38.001(e)
